Have you been frightened away from the word of YHVH, because you have been told it is ‘the law’? Have you felt like His word is harsh and unyielding? Have you been left with the impression that no one could ever measure up to His standard? Have you believed that things have changed for us today and that the word of YHVH really only applied to Israel?

The word that is translated ‘law’ is Torah, it is a Hebrew word. Torah means to hit the mark, it is a guide for the people of YHVH, to show them how He wants them to live…it is something for us to aim for. Does YHVH require that His people live by a standard? Yes…there is nothing difficult to understand about that and He is NOT some cruel taskmaster standing over His people waiting to strike them down if they do not obey Him.

As a loving Father, He teaches us how to live. His word guides our lives in so many ways and teaches us to love His way of life. There is freedom in His word, NOT bondage and oppression. When His word is called ‘the law’ it immediately creates a picture in our mind that there is something that we HAVE to do. He does NOT force us to live by His word…it is all our choice. It MUST be by our choice. We obey Him because we love Him.

Whenever you see the translation ‘the law’, say the correct word to yourself, Torah. YHVH says that there is ONE Torah for all. If we reject that Torah, then we are rejecting Him and His way of life. We should not have to fear our Father, or His word. If we truly love Him, then we will keep His commands…His Torah.

John 14:15-17
15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands. 16 “And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper, to stay with you forever – 17 the Spirit of the Truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. But you know Him, for He stays with you and shall be in you.

Always, seek the truth…rethink, relearn, return.
