There is such a lack of commitment among people in this world. People jump from one thing to another and from place to place…tossed about, blown about…following every whim and desire and NEVER settling down. The only real commitment they have is to themselves. They idolize themselves and worship ‘ME’.
Groupthink has completely leavened our society and turned people into followers who can no longer reason or make decisions for themselves. There is a crowd mentality and an attitude that has robbed people of the ability to think and stand for themselves…they hesitate, to see what everyone is else is doing and thinking first before they act.
Sadly, that same attitude is found among those who call themselves believers. That is NOT the attitude and example we see among those first followers of The Way is it? They were committed to YHVH first and then to one another. There were those who followed Yeshua for a time and left, but those closest to Him, those who were COMMITTED, stayed with Him and left everything else behind. He warns us to count the cost if we are to follow Him and NOT to turn back.
57 And it came to be, as they journeyed on the way, that someone said to Him, “Master, I shall follow You wherever You go.” 58 And יהושע said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the heaven nests, but the Son of Aḏam has nowhere to lay His head.” 59 And He said to another, “Follow Me,” but he said, “Master, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 And יהושע said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and announce the reign of Elohim.” 61 And another also said, “Master, I shall follow You, but let me first say good-bye to those in my house.” 62 But יהושע said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the reign of Elohim.”
Our good intentions will get us nowhere. It is so easy to become infected with the thoughts and attitudes of the world around us…but we are called to more…
NO COMMITMENT = COMPROMISE
YHVH calls on those who are His to be set apart. They are NOT to look, act and be like everyone else. Those who are the truly called and chosen people of YHVH have had to endure many things over the years and there is more to come. If we are not committed to Him now, what makes us thing we will stay when things really get bad?
Many WILL go into the system they seek to avoid, because they are NOT committed. They will be convinced and they will be influenced by others to follow even if it does not feel right at first. They will go along with the majority who are deceived into believing the system is where they should be. Yeshua warned that even the choses ones if possible would be deceived.
YHVH has called His People to come out, be separate and stand as His People, but also to stand alone if necessary. Many of His Servants have had to stand alone when everyone else around them were so sure they were going the right way. Many have compromised and failed. Even Solomon became compromised by his wives and became leavened with their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs. He even worshiped their mighty ones when He KNEW that everything he had and everything he was had come from YHVH. We can be easily influenced if we are NOT committed.
What is drawing you away? What is taking the place of YHVH in your life? What is making you feel good about compromise? Many are turning back and they are convinced they are going the right way. Everyone has a reason for what they are doing. Yeshua asked if He would find any faith on the earth when He returns…what would make Him even ask that question? People who lack commitment…
Yehoshua (Joshua) stood against all of Yisrael…he WAS committed and he asked them for their commitment. Will you stand? Even if it means going it alone? When others try to convince you that you are wrong? When EVERYONE else goes a different way? WILL YOU STAND?
Commitment…you MUST make a decision and stand by it.
15 “And if it seems evil in your eyes to serve יהוה, choose for yourselves this day whom you are going to serve, whether the mighty ones which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the mighty ones of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But I and my house, we serve יהוה.”
Always, seek the truth…rethink, relearn, return.
