If there is no need for teachers today, then why did Yeshua send the twelve out? Why did they take His Word out to those who would hear them and raise up assemblies of those who believed? Why did He tell them to teach all nations to observe all things that I have commanded you? He was speaking specifically to those whom He chose and sent out…
Philip was sent on a mission by a messenger of YHVH. The Spirit sent him specifically to one man and for one purpose.
26 But a messenger of יהוה spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the way which goes down from Yerushalayim to Azzah.” This is desert. 27 And he arose and went, and saw, a man of Kush, a eunuch of great authority under Kandake the sovereigness of the Kushites, who was in charge of all her treasury, and had come to Yerushalayim to worship, 28 and was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Yeshayahu. 29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and join him in that chariot.”
The man of Kush was an important man and he had been to Jerusalem to worship. Why did he travel all that way? He had a desire to understand and he went there to worship and to learn. He was pursuing and seeking to understand the Word of YHVH.
30 And running up, Philip heard him reading the prophet Yeshayahu, and said, “Do you know what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How am I able, unless someone guides me?” And he called Philip near, to come up and sit with him. 32 And the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so He opened not His mouth. 33 “In His humiliation He was deprived of right-ruling. And who shall declare His generation? Because His life was taken from the earth.” 34 And the eunuch, answering Philip, said, “I ask you, about whom does the prophet say this, about himself or about some other?”
The man of Kush did NOT understand what he was reading. He understood he needed someone to guide him. Someone to point him in the right direction, someone to explain and help him to see and understand. He asked Philip a question…
35 And Philip opening his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, brought to him the Good News: יהושע!
Philip TAUGHT the man of Kush, he explained to him and taught him about Yeshua. The man of Kush was so excited about receiving the truth that He wanted to be immersed right then!
36 And as they were going on the way, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “Look, water! What hinders me from being immersed?” 37 And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, it is permitted.” And he answering, said, “I believe that יהושע Messiah is the Son of Elohim.” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he immersed him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of יהוה caught Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went his way, rejoicing.
He went on his way happy and rejoicing! The Spirit of YHVH sent Philip on his way…to teach someone else perhaps? To explain and bring understanding to someone else who was pursuing and seeking to know the Word of YHVH?
What if the man of Kush had rejected Philip? What if he had told Philip he had no need of a man to teach him?
It is a sad mindset that so many have fallen into…they would reject what YHVH sends to them out of their own foolish pride.
The famine of The Word is coming…maybe it has already begun…
Always, seek the truth…rethink, relearn, return.
